Meeting to Reduce Abortions
Recently President Barack Obama announced he would be pooling pro-life, pro-choice, and pro-abortion advocates together to discuss ways to reduce the number of abortions in America. The only catch is that they would not be allowed to debate or discuss making abortion illegal. President Obama thinks it should be legal but just wants to appear to be a great unifying president. If I were at this meeting I would say, "hey guys, if there is nothing wrong with abortion then why are we having a meeting to reduce it?" There really is no common ground on this issue but if I were representing the anti-abortion side of the table I would still attend the meeting even though it is one big political sham because saving just one innocent life would be worth the humiliation of even attending.

911 operator from hell
A 911 call is the last place to lecture someone about there language. The operator was being confrontational just for the sake of it. You will also notice that he lies to his fellow dispatchers about the call. For all this he receives a two week 'vacation' and he still keeps his job and all benefits. I strongly suspect that at that small police station all of the officers are close to each other and the chief because of their relationship cannot punish the officer the way he needs to be. Now pretty please, with sugar on top, fetch me an ambulance!!!

Honesty too much for Americans
Recently Vice President Joe Biden was interviewed by NBC News The Today Shows Matt Lauer about Swine Flu also known as N1H1, terrorism and the economy. In that interview he stated how he would advise his family to avoid airplanes and subways. Immediately this drew criticism as more typical Joe Biden speaking before thinking. Some have argued that he hurt the aforementioned industries. This may be 100 percent right and I would not argue against that but I feel as though pundits are being too hard on Joe Biden. Keep in mind I am no fan of Joe Biden, but for decades I have heard people complain about how they feel as though politicains are dishonest. I would agree that politicians are dishonest in many ways but Joe Biden was being refreshingly honest during the interview and about a minute into the interview Matt Lauer asks the Vice President for them to discuss the situation as non-experts which the VP continues to do. He was asked what advice he would give his own family and he fell for it. What did he fall for? Honesty. He gives the same advice that I give my own family but that advice it seems is too honest for the American people. The main stream media seems to think that Americans are not smart enough to be told the truth and need to be manipulated like a herd of animals.
Swine Flu H1N1

With all of the recent news about swine flu also known a H1N1 and with the fact that is does not seem to be as bad as we first thought I thought I would post a very important scenario. When I researched previous flu outbreaks that have happened over the centuries I noticed something very important that I see none of the news outlets discussing. The previous outbreaks were relatively minor in the spring and then later a second wave would come closer to winter time that was responsible for most of the deaths. We should learn from history and take this outbreak seriously even though it seems minor now. We must also remember that this virus has the capability to mutate and who knows hows serious it would be at that point. If nothing else comes of this virus it is at least a wake up call or an exercise at how unprepared we are to deal with outbreaks. I don't know about you, but this blogger will be preparing over the next few months and years for the possibility that we are not better than our ancestors and will somehow luck-out of the heartbreak that a pandemic can cause.

Hard Drive Failure

After hearing the startling news that about 1 out of every 4 hard drives will fail within at least 5 years I realized that I needed to research the online backup option that I had heard a little about. I did a simple google search and found many providers. Since I recently heard that one of these providers went out of business and only gave customers one month notice I thought it wise to search how long each of these companies had been in business as well as what others were saying about them. After all that research I decided that Mozy was the best company for me. On there site I clicked on the "About us" link and it stated they had been in business since 2005. Now 2005 does not seem like that long but when researching other providers I notice many of them being in business for a shorter period. What I really liked about Mozy is that it is intelligent and after backing up your files it will monitor them for changes and only backup what has changed instead of backing up everything all over again. Mozy will give you 2GB of online storage for free with no stings attached. What is really important to me is all of my pictures of my family which is about 3GB but Mozy only backs up the first 2GB since I have the free account. If you need more they offer unlimited space for 4.95 per month which is great. Also if you do not want to pay for the service then when you get the 2GB free account they will give you a link that you can send to your friends and family and if they click on that link and sign up for a free account as well then Mozy will give them 256MB of additional space as well as giving you 256MB of additional space. The only problem is if you are like me then you do not want to spam your friends and family with an email telling them to sign up just so you can get extra storage space. So at the moment I just have the 2GB free space account but I will post the link that they gave me here so as that if anyone wants to sign up with them then you can click this link and get an additional 256 Mb of space on top of the 2GB and so will I.

House of Saddam

I recently watched House of Saddam which is HBO's four part mini series chronicling Saddam Hussein's life from around the time he seized power all the way threw to his execution. The series was gripping. If you new nothing of Saddam's life you would swear that it was fiction. The movie as I like to call it is not just for those who love politics or history, the movie is genuinely good. The whole time I felt as if I were watching an Iraqi version of the Godfather. If I were a history professor I would make viewing House of Saddam mandatory when studying that conflict just as I would make Schindler's List mandatory when studying World War II. Both movies are very important when one is trying to understand the true nature of evil.

Give a little
I was just watching an episode of Rachel Maddow on MSNBC which is a difficult thing to do because she is so openly partisan but I love politics so there I was watching the show. The segment was about gun control. My personal stance on gun control is still evolving even to this day. I honestly am not sure where I stand because I grew up with guns in the house but now that I'm a father I am scared to death to have a gun anywhere near my children. They were discussing common ground like banning assualt rifles and leaving it at that which caused me to start pondering the issue. I thought back to the major speech that President Obama gave in Denver I think when he was still campaigning. He said, "We need to come together to figure out how to reduce the number of Abortions in America." This was a campaing promise that I ethier have heard nothing about or he outright has not or does not intend to keep. When you think about all of the special interests involved you will start to realize how the gun and abortion issues mirror each other. If common a common sense approach to gun control were to be presented the National Rifle Association would fight tooth and nail against it. If any measure were presented to reduce the number of abortions in America then NARAL or Planned Parenthood would fight equally hard to stop it even if it made good sense and was good for our country. Why would these organizations do something so negative you ask? Because they think that any little bit of reduction of there "rights" would lead slowly and surely to the abolition of those rights. These organizations are actually right though. If I were a Political stategist against one of these oragnaizations the first thing I would do is to start to widdle away at those "rights" that I disagree with. We... as a nation, need to resolve this impass in order to get any common sense solutions to these issues.
